Cabin crew

 

Cabin crew is an umbrella term that comprises of careers like flight attendants, flight supervisors, air hostesses and pursuers. Cabin crew is an integral part of all the airlines. The primary job of a cabin crew member is to look after the safety, comfort and welfare of passengers traveling in the aircraft along with assisting them in placing luggage, verifying passenger’s tickets, demonstrating use of emergency equipment and safety measures like fastening seat belt etc. He/she is also responsible for showing exit doors to the passengers and showing how to use them in case of an emergency. The job of a cabin crew member further extends to ensuring there is sufficient food and beverage in the flight. They serve meals and drinks in addition to providing first aid kits.

Cabin crew members are thoroughly trained in handling emergency situations. They apply safety drill and tackle other problems like medical emergency etc.

In USA, one must have a high school diploma to enter this field. She also needs to get Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification. Their training program focuses on techniques of medical emergency, evacuation, security related issues and fire fighting. The job demands constant interaction with the passengers so a cabin crew member must have a pleasing personality.

As such, there are no formal educations required for individuals who wish to pursue cabin crew career in UK. Though, if one has degrees in subjects including languages and business studies, she definitely has an advantage over others. Additionally, one should have good GCSE grades and NVQ courses in air cabin crew services which might prove very useful in landing a job in this field.

To become an air cabin crew member, one must have a minimum education qualification of 10+2 pass or intermediate or Graduate from a recognized University. Usually, age limit of the candidates is between 17 to 27 years. Additionally, one needs to have certain physical attributes for the course. It is a common sight to find only unmarried candidates as cabin crew members. Those with fluency in multiple languages definitely have an added advantage over others.

Several institutes in India offer various courses for cabin crew members. Plenty of short duration training courses for air cabin crew members are also available to interested candidates.

Cabin crew members have multiple career options in public sector airlines and private airlines. They can find good opportunities on domestic as well as on international routes. India has witnessed arrival of several new private airlines that seek talented cabin crew members on a regular basis.
