Graphic artist

Graphic artists are also known as graphic designers. These designers are highly creative and artistic in nature. They specialize in developing creative concepts which are used to convey a certain idea or message. Graphic designers work in sync with instructions of account manager or clients’ brief. A graphic artist performs several functions. He is good at providing a wide variety of customers with all kinds of graphic products to communicate or promote specific messages and ideas. They work on a range of products like computer games, books, posters, websites, and corporate logos. A good graphic artist also has effective communication skills. As he works in liaison with client servicing people, he needs to grab what is required and deliver accordingly. This is a challenging job that demands tons of creative juices. The field of graphic design has wonderful balance of male and female workers. Many graphic artists also work as a freelancer. Not many know that graphic artists also produce the credits that appear before and after television programs and movies.

Talking about education and training, a bachelor degree in fine arts or graphic design can open the doors to entry level positions in multimedia industry. There are hundreds of schools, colleges and universities that offer art and design programs. The course curriculum covers subjects like studio art, principles of design, computerized design, commercial graphics production, printing techniques, and Web site design etc. Additionally, students can study subjects like sociology, cultural studies, art history, writing and marketing etc to get a better knowledge of the field. Further study will always come handy during the major job interviews.

Many professional schools offer associate degrees and certificates in graphic design. A graphic artist must keep himself abreast of new computer graphics and design software. This is a promising field and requirements are always there for quality graphic artists. Thanks to demand for video games, cellular phones and websites, graphic designers will always get lucrative job offers. Those with significant work experience and impressive portfolio will have even better chances.
