In between, many students prefer to get some practical experience by working with a firm or joining as apprentice. It is important to gain relevant work experience after which students are required to take RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) Exam in Professional Practice and Management.
In USA, interested architecture students must get themselves registered or licensed before calling themselves architects. Usually, architecture school graduates in many parts of USA are required to work under direction of a licensed architect before they are awarded the degree. Licensing requirements include a professional degree in architecture, internship and successful clearance of all divisions of the ARE (Architect Registration Exam). Students should make sure that their architectural schools are accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board. The course curriculum has subjects like history of architecture, building codes, the physical aspects of creating designs, learning of computer programs like AutoCAD that are frequently used in planning the design logistics. Architects are also taught about three-dimensional models.
