PGDM refers to Post Graduate Diploma in Management. It is equivalent to an MBA. MBA or PGDM is perhaps the most popular career option for youngsters all across the world. The way business houses and corporate are growing, demand for qualified managers has also increased. Talented mangers are always required by the big organizations to handle operations and the business. Now, most of the companies have operations in different other countries that not only requires a global perspective but also qualified PGDM holders who can understand the complexities of the business and guide the company to a bright future.

A PGDM holder from a reputed institute will always have lucrative job opportunities. To manage an enterprise is a challenging job and professionals with PGDM in their resume are always up to the challenges thrown by modern day competitive business environment. Usually, PGDM course is of two years or one year depending upon the college and place. For example, in UK, Australia or Hongkong 12 months or 18 months PGDM courses are more popular whereas in countries like India or Malaysia, 24 months PGDM courses are preferred choice. Different universities have different PGDM course structure. It can be divided into several trimesters or four semesters, subject to particular college’s structure.

GMAT is perhaps the universally accepted exam for getting admission into PGDM or MBA courses. The basic eligibility norm for PGDM course is graduate degree with a certain minimum percentage or grade from a recognized university. Now a day, colleges offering MBA courses are opting for students with prior work experience.

For working professionals, the part-time and Executive PGDM are better choices. By joining these courses, they can enhance their working skills and can manage both work and studies equally well. One is required to prepare extensively for PGDM entrance exams. The exam usually begins with a written test followed by Group discussion and personal interview. Only the students who manage to clear the entrance test are invited for GD & PI round.

In the Indian context, PGDM is usually a two years course. Students are required to take exams like CAT, XAT, GMAT, NMET, MAT etc for getting admission into top business schools of the country. Some of the top colleges offering PGDM courses in the country are, IIMs, ISB, S P Jain, NMIMS, Symbiosis, FMS, IIFT etc. Once the students manage to complete the course successfully, they can participate in campus job interviews and land themselves wonderful job opportunities.
