Crochet Bag Patterns

Crochet Shoulder Bag pattern 1.

Size of purse : 11 ½ inches wide, 12 inches deep

Materials required :

Speed cro-sheen ,4 - 100 yard balls of ecru

Steel crochet hook number.3

17 inches of fabric for lining

Gauge:1 motif = 2¾ inch square

 

1st motif:

Chain 5: sl st in first ch to form ring.

Round 1: Ch 4 (counts as 1 dc plus ch 1); (dc in ring, ch 1) 11 times, sl st in 3rd ch of ch 4.

Round 2: Ch 3, (2 dc in next ch-1 sp, dc in next dc) 11 times, 2 dc in last sp, sl st in top of ch 3--36 dc.

Round 3: Ch 3, * dc in each of next 9 dc, ch7, dc in same st as last dc, repeat from * twice, dc in each of next 8 dc, dc in same st with ch 3, ch 7, sl st in top of ch 3. End off.

2nd Motif: Work as for 1st motif through Round 2.

Round 3: Ch 3, dc in each of next 3 dc; drop lp off hook; insert hook from front to back in 5th dc on side of previous motif, pick up dropped lp on hook; work dc in next dc on 2nd motif, pulling yarn through last 2 lps on hook and st of previous motif at one time to join motifs; work dc in each of next 5 dc, ch 3, sl st in corner lp of previous motif, ch 3, * dc in same st as last dc and in each of next 9 dc, ch 7, repeat from * once, dc in same st as last dc and in each of next 8dc, dc in same st with ch 3, ch 3, sl st in corner lp of previous motif, ch 3, sl st in top of ch 3 at beg of rnd. End off.

Join all motifs this way, joining 2 corner lps and center of side between corner lps to previous motif

Back:

Join 16 Motifs, 4x4. Join yarn in upper right-hand corner ch-7 lp.

Round 1: Ch 8, 3 dc in corner lp; working across top of bag, * dc in each of next 10 dc, 3 dc in ch-3 sp, dc in joining between motifs, 3 dc in next ch-3 sp, repeat from * twice, dc in each of next 10 dc, 3 dc in corner ch-7 lp; ch 5; working down side, 3 dc in same corner lp; work down side, across bottom and up other side in same way, end 2 dc in upper right-hand corner lp, sl st in 3rd ch of ch 8.

Row2: Sl st in each of next 3 ch, ch 3, 2 dc in corner lp, dc in each dc across top of bag, 3 dc in corner lp. End off.

Front: Work same as for back. Do not end off. Place back against front, wrong sides tog. From right side, working through edge sts on front and back, sc pieces tog along sides and bottom, end upper right-hand corner of front. Do not end off.

Top Border: Round 1: Ch 1, sc in each st around top edge. Sl st in first sc. Rounds 2 and 3: Ch 1, sc in each sc around. Join each rnd. End off.

Shoulder Strap: Ch 9. Row 1: Dc in 6th ch from hook, dc in each of next 3 ch. Ch 5, turn

Row 2: Sk 4 dc, 4 dc in ch lp. Ch 5, turn. Repeat row 2 until strap is 40" long or desired length. Sew strap ends to top of bag on sides.

Lining: Cut two fabric peices each ½  inch wider & deeper than front of bag. Sew both long edges and one short edge together with right sides facing, making ¼ inch seams. Fold open top edge do7n &188; inch . Place lining, wrong side facing out, inside crochet bag & slip stitch securely to top of bag.
