chocolate dessert recipes

Most popular dessert recipes nowadays include chocolate in some form. Even traditional Indian ones have begun to incorporate the cocoa extract, like in chocolate barfi and chocolate kheer.

Chocolate, in its raw form of cocoa, is not sweet. It originated amongst native American-Indian tribes like the Aztecs and Mayas, where it was called the ‘Food of the Gods’ and was used during religious rituals. The native Aztecs combined cocoa with honey, nuts, seeds, and spices.

In fact, in its raw form, chocolate is a healthy food since it contains a lot of protein and anti-oxidants, which prevent cancer. It is also stimulating since it contains caffeine, which is also found in tea and coffee.

Dessert recipes that include chocolate are any foodie’s delight. Typical favourites are truffles and chocolate pastries served with whipped cream and some more chocolate sauce on top.

And then there are the irresistible mountains of desserts, where several individual dessert-items are piled one on top of the other. You could have cake in one layers, mousse in the next, caramel in the third, cream in the fourth, more cake and more mousse and top it all with nuts and chocolate sauce.
