The animal theme is one of the common fancy dress themes in schools and
children’s parties. In fact it is one sure way of combining the learning
process along with a lot of fun. Fancy dress competitions also help
children overcome their shyness. They get exposure to a stage. It is
regarded as a morale-booster and an essential tool to build a child’s
confidence. You can avail of an animal costume from a fancy dress costume dealer. You could probably purchase the costume, or then hire it from those who manufacture costumes to be leased for an occasion. The main problem with purchasing a new one is that you may not get your child’s original size or the animal your child wants to become is not available. In the case of renting a costume, the question of hygiene arises, as one cannot be sure whether the costume has been regularly washed and ironed. Most parents prefer to create the costume at home. Firstly, it is better to understand what your child would like to become. Obviously they would ask for their favorite animal. Most animal prints are available in velvet, but then for the more authentic look, the material of which soft toys are made is a preference. To dress up your child to look like, for instance a lion, you need to see that all the accessories are also prepared. This would include a long tail with bushy end, swaying from side to side; as well as mane with the small jutting out ears. You could make a band to hold the black nose. You could also prepare bushy eyebrows and stitch it on your child, along with the whiskers. Since competitions are means to help a child overcome their shyness, one major step is to teach your child to behave like the animal while on stage. Or then they could recite a short poem about the animal they represent. ~ author Karishma Bajaj.
