  That beautiful bundle of joy in your hands brings a twinkle in your eye. But are you really serious of the gender-specific clothes for your newborn baby girl? Parents in general pay little attention to gender-specific clothes for newborn babies as they have to be extremely comfortable and loose fitting. However some parents at times favour to add feminine features to the clothes of their baby girl.

However feminine features for babies are limited to colours and a few patterns. The colour pink is traditionally associated with babies and yes you can get polka dots and two-colour dresses. There are a few accessories too that you can indulge in like hair bands, lacy socks, shrugs and colourful wraps.

Babies need frequent changing, so be sure to get in numbers of every outfit. If you plan to use cloth diapers then two – three dozen should be fine for the beginning. If it is winter then woollen one-piece suits are necessary in abundance, exposing your baby’s skin to even a little cool breeze would invite cough and cold, a complete no-no for new born’s. Hence keep your babies thoroughly wrapped up even if they are indoors.

This takes us to a serious question; do you want to make your baby look cute at the cost of her health? Babies, a divine gift from God look cute in whatever they wear. So you can keep fashion on hold for a year at least and cuddle her in woollens and hooded jumpers. Hygiene should be of utmost importance when it comes to your babies clothes. Wash the bedding and mattresses regularly and make sure they are dry and warm when you are spreading them across. Ants and flower flies are a regular menace near babies as milk oozes from their mouths and stain their clothes and drapes.

Washing baby clothes is another important task; you cannot use the detergent you are using for yourself or the entire household as these are hard and make materials rough. Baby detergents are separately available in the market. They are mild and soft and keep clothes supple all through. So don’t be in a hurry to wash baby’s clothes with the rest of the laundry. Do it separately as your baby is special.

However all this should not worry you and put your purchases on a back seat. Dress your baby with warm inners and colourful jumpers or blankets. She will look like a doll in whatever you dress her; just keep the purse strings a bit pulled.
