Your child has a fancy dress competition coming up and the theme is dogs and right now you are wondering how are you going to dress him/her. Well, there are a couple of options you can look at. For one, you could pickup a readymade costume from a store that sells fancy dress costumes, or you could hire one, or your could simply make one at home.

With the variety of velvet material available, you could prepare a dog costume of almost every breed. Instead of velvet, you could also opt for the material that is used to prepare soft toys. Since, soft toys are made of almost every breed, you will not have too much trouble picking up the Dalmatian or German shepherd material.

Usually, parents prepare a one-piece suit from this material and make body parts such as the tail and ears, attaching them accordingly. This jumper would also have an attached hood so that it is convenient to wear and remove. Another option is a three-piece costume, which would consist of the pant, t-shirt and skullcap with ears attached.

Since you cannot have a dog walking on two feet, people make their child crawl so that the dog look is complete. Dog costumes could also be used as normal garment if it is made of velvet. To complete the costume, make-up on the face is required. You could paint the whiskers and shade the eyebrows darker. A little bit of foundation and rouge will definitely make your child stand out amongst the rest.
