When choosing the pageant dress one should consider what colors would look
ideal on the stage especially under the stage lighting. The colors that are
often recommended are the bolder ones such brilliant blues, turquoise,
purples or even black and white. The contestant should also consider the type
of fabric that would be perfect for the pageant dress.
Most Pageant dress designers prefer silks, as they are available in a
variety of beautiful colors. Silks are also able to take the weight of
beads, crystals and other stone embroidery work. Silk is also a very
supple. Satin or any other shiny material is not heavily recommended, as
they tend to make the wearer look dumpy.
The pageant dress should be elegant with clean simple lines. It should fit
well and neither is too loose or too tight. One should choose a color
that compliments your skin - the material and the style should have a
feel and fall to it. One must remember to take into account the hairstyle
and accessories that will be worn with the pageant dress. One important
factor is to check your ability to walk with heels with your dress on stage
and also up and down the steps.
