The major types of swimming suits for women are one-piece swimsuits, thongs, bikinis, tankinis, monokinis, string bikins etc. The last three names mentioned are more of variants. As far as men’s swimming wears is concerned, shorts, trunks, board shorts, jammers, Speedo-style briefs, thongs, or cut-off jeans are the major ones. Swimming suits are must if you are planning a beach holiday or even a splash in swimming pool. These dresses are absolutely must for professional swimmers as protection against abrasion, drag, stings and skin chaffing. Professional swimmers use special type of swimming suits.

The best part about them is availability of numerous designs, styles and colors. Most of these new styles have arrived in recent years. The popularity of swimming suits is constantly increasing and expect some more variants in coming time.

If you have a good figure and you want it to be prominent then go for one piece swim suit. It is more flattering to the good figure compared to a two piece suit or a bikini. As mentioned above, designs are plenty and you need to keep in mind your body type and voila! Many women love to get designer swimming suits specially made for them. You can have your favorite print and fabric in the designer bathing suits. These suits should be such that they accentuate your attractive parts and conceal not so flattering body parts.

A woman also needs to be comfortable in wearing swim suit. If you are not confident to carry it off or feel conscious in exposing body parts then you should not try swim suits. Wear your swim suit with grace and dignity.
A bikini spurs up a very tantalizing image before our eyes. But who is responsible for this skimpy new-age attire. None other than the bold women who wanted to enjoy nature uninhibitedly.

But this wasn’t the story centuries ago. Women then were not even allowed outside the four walls of their home. A public bath was a taboo. But as the severity ebbed down the decade’s women were allowed to take a dip only with a costume. Which was as good as a whole uniform comprising from slacks, full-length skirts and dresses. As the years passed the slacks got higher, the skirts disappeared and a whole new dressing code evolved. After a while the one-piece swimsuit originated with the introduction of latex and later lycra material.

These materials were figure hugging thus helping easy navigation under water. It was perfect. Swimwear was even introduced on stage for beauty pageants by the late 19th century. And from then on swimsuits got a wider, larger market.

Men cannot be dismissed from this evolution. The swimming trunks of today too have a story of its own. In the ancient world they too were not allowed to expose any part of their body. They had to be draped totally. But with conservativeness declining, men demanded the right to expose their upper body. With the emergence of modernism, they got their birthright.

Today’s research has brought to life swimsuits that allow the sunrays to penetrate without exposing the skin. These new variations are for the new age consumers. Wonder what future swimsuits will look like. In India, the market for designer swim suits is still in the nascent stage. While local brands are abundantly available, the celebrity few still prefer swim wears with a foreign label. ~ Fashion editor M. Coutinho. swimming suits.copyright indianchild.com
