winter hats

Winter hats are often the least considered item are even more important than sweaters, cardigans or coats. Although most of us are aware that the body should be insulated against the cold, very few of us know that body heat usually attempts to escape from not the body but the head. So it is imperative to cover the head adequately and protect it from the cold. Woolen hats and caps are ideal for this, Remember to cover those ears and on days when the temperature plummets, use those ski masks that cover everything but the eyes, nose and mouth. The ears are sensitive areas and are prone to the cold. Even cotton caps or caps made of fleece could serve the purpose. The ultimate object is providing warmth and comfort

Woolen hats look really good and black and gray are versatile colors. They go along with just about any kind of jacket, glove or even scarf. Opt for the simple hats that do the job. A plain winter hat that will retain warmth will never go out of style and is good head cover for the coldest winter. The big disadvantage with wool is that it tends to make you itch. Some people are allergic to wool and tend to feel scratchy even on looking at it. Fur, felt, velvet and cashmere hats are options for such people.

Leather hats are not warm unless they are lined appropriately. Hats made from shearling especially genuine sheepskin shearling are perhaps the best when it comes to providing warmth in below freezing temperatures. They look so good and feel so good that you will be waiting for winter to put them on.

Wool felt hats and fur felt fedoras are ideal winter hats for men. They are functional, comfortable and stylish to look at. Fur and sheepskin hats or combination of these three materials are also good choices. In fact such a combination is known to have inherent properties that augur for a cozy, cold free winter. Remember not to compromise warmth for style. Even at the cost of not looking your best or the hat not matching your dress, cover your head adequately with a nice warm hat. Winter cold can be pretty disastrous.
