winter jackets

The word jacket is derived from the French language and is not very much different from the short coat that French peasants wore. It is used along with a suit or used during winter instead of a coat or sometimes beneath one. There are many types of jackets and one common feature is that they have zippers in the front, collars, sleeves and pockets. They are different from coats in that they are usually lighter and shorter than coats. There are heavier types of jackets also.

A winter jacket is worn sometimes worn over a sweater but sometimes wearing a polar fleece jacket as an inner layer insulates the body from the cold. The anorak and ski jacket are good examples.

These jackets are water resistant and lined with soft warm fleece. They have adjustable hoods and cuffs, which really prevent the cold air from entering.
Fleece jackets are light in weight, as warm as wool, cozy and easy to take care of. They can be easily washed and can weather the onslaughts of weather and man. Fleece vests, jackets and shirts are an inevitable part of the winter wardrobe. Down jackets are superb insulators as they trap the air efficiently.

They are available as reversible jackets and you have the advantages of 2 jackets for the price of one. With its zippered pockets and elastic cuffs, they are sheer pleasure to wear. These jackets are easy to wash and dry very quickly. The versatile 3-in-1-fusion jacket is weatherproof and has an outer layer of nylon with a zip-in inner jacket. When zipped up, it can combat the cold efficiently. Whether you want to go mountaineering, cross country skiing or ice skating it really does not matter for the fusion jacket serves as good insulation.

Thin is the in thing in everything from mobiles to computers. The winter jacket is no exception. The Primaloft jacket can be worn on the outside or can act as an insulating inner layer. However it is used, it guards against cold and inclement weather. Available in different colors and weaves it is very popular with the young and old alike. Thinsulate jackets have all the advantages of down and the disadvantages of synthetic jackets. They resists dampness, and even when soaked do not let the warmth go out. A little bulky it does not pack very well. Polarguard insulated jackets are highly compressible, lightweight and are really warm. They have pockets that are lined with fleece and act as hand warmers.  Indeed, the changes that winter jackets have undergone over the years are really incredible.
