Kids are the greatest learners. They
learn fast and better than an adult person. All the parents try to teach
their kids values of life. They make sure their kid is getting best of
education and learning everything that he or she will require in the
future to make his own destiny. The learning process of children begins
with their birth. Children aren't born understanding the importance of
everything in their surroundings. They have no clue about nature and its
significance. However, children learn a great deal by observing others,
especially their parents. If kids are watching their parents to be
disrespectful and insensitive towards nature and environment, they will
also become like them. It is the responsibility of parents to present
model behavior to their children. Parents can instill a sense of respect
and kindness for nature in their kids.
We are constantly inundated with contemporary issues plaguing our world
like water conservation, waste disposal, climate change, pollution
emission and energy shortage etc. Though, we are trying to do our parts
to save the nature, we can ensure that the future generations is also
doing their bit by educating our kids. These kids are the future and
tomorrow they will have to tackle the chaos we will be leaving behind.
The future generation will have much more to handle when it is related
to environmental problems. We are already experiencing significant
increase in global temperature. Every year, the earth is getting hotter
and young people of today will be compelled to handle these issues in a
more serious manner in coming time. There must be a constant focus on
raising consciousness about environmental issues in the minds of
children. This purpose will not be achieved by simply giving a lecture
or including a chapter in course curriculum. It should be done on a
regular basis.
There are several ways of teaching your kids about eco-friendly products
and environment. First, parents and teachers should strive to inculcate
a way of thinking in a young kid’s life. It’s more about a child living
each day of his life with a constant awareness about environmental
causes. As they say, charity begins at home so kids should be taught
about recycling and water conservation. Small things like turning off
the lights or television while they are not being used will go a long
way in making your child understand the importance of conserving energy.
Ask them to turn-off the tap while they are having showers or brushing
the teeth. To instill environmental consciousness in your kids, parents
can think of initiating a compost pile in their backyard. Parents can
further explain what to put in the pile.
Teachers can introduce lesson plans about environmental causes in the
classrooms. They can organize outdoor games and lessons apart from
showing eco-friendly computer programs and websites to the kids. Many
schools take children to recycling plants so that children can be more
environmental responsible. Children learn about recycling process and
how it affects their lives. They are also made to know about ecological
issues faced by human civilization. All these steps go a long way in
teaching kids about eco-friendly products and environment.
