One of the most debated global issues
is of environment. Scientists and environmentalists are warning global
leaders about impending environmental disaster. We are already
witnessing significant increase in global warming, melting glaciers and
depleting ozone layers etc. Worldwide, governments and social
organizations are taking steps to educate people about consequences of
global warming. We are being suggested to go green. Eco-friendly refers
to the concept of going green and it has its own terminologies and
benchmarks. Look around yourself and you will find many companies
advertising their products as eco-friendly. Now eco-friendly products
are a different topic altogether that we will talk about later.
The term ‘Eco-friendly’ actually caters to all the activities that are
initiated to benefit the environment. It is an acronym of
ecologically-friendly. These activities are also known as environmental
friendly. Eco-friendly is a term with wider implications. It is
applicable to all facets of life. As far as question of how activities
can be made eco-friendly is concerned, it depends upon lifestyle changes
and products manufacturing. There is a growing focus on making products
in a way that does not affect environment in a negative way. Right from
emission norms to waste disposal, eco-friendly makes sense in every
sphere of life. People are being encouraged to adopt some environmental
friendly lifestyle changes.
As mentioned earlier, there is a growing concern about the health of the
environment and that’s why people are trying to engage on eco-friendly
activities. The global ecological apprehensions are not really a new
phenomenon. The issues first came to the fore during last century when
rapid global industrialization was in full force. In last hundred years,
there has been a drastic increase in global temperature and every year
summer is getting hotter. Because of melting icebergs in Antarctica
region, the sea level is rising and that poses a grave danger to all the
major coastal cities in the world. Natural resources have been used
unabashedly and that has left people worried about lack of resources in
future.
Eco-friendly activities and policies are the need of the hour. We can’t
leave it to coming generations to save the environment. Though the steps
are being taken to rectify the situation and every year we have global
summit on environmental damage but things haven’t really picked up the
speed. Organizations are taking steps to spread awareness among people
about adverse impact of pollution, carbon emissions and about how to go
green. The hustle and bustle of urbanization has left us with concrete
jungles. To counter the situation, trees are being planted and new
source of eco-friendly energies is being researched. Solar power, wind
power and hydrocarbon power etc are being promoted.
Business enterprises are also putting in efforts by investing in green
product development. There is a growing demand among people for
eco-friendly products. A new wave of revolution is being initiated to
save nature, flora and fauna, precious resources and mother earth. The
way things are panning out; we are going to see more eco-friendly
measures and activities in coming days.
