cross stitch charts

A chart is what aspires you to take on the cross-stitch pattern and work on it. Hence you have to be a little careful before you purchase your chart. There are tens of thousands of charts available in your local hobby store. It can be very luring to select an intimidating picture but be sure if you are game for it.

For instance if you are a novice then look for the style of stitches in the chart. If they are the simple cross-stitch or the backstitch or some other complicated stitch. Look keenly into the chart. Cause you will find it difficult to grasp a difficult stitch and may take hours before you understand it. Next check the number of colors involved in the chart. The chart may be simple with the common stitches but the confluence of colors can be quite confusing. As a beginner stick to a few colors. As if you do not understand where you are in the next two steps due to the influx of colors, the chart is not meant for you.

Some charts are small while some are available in the size of a large painting. At a beginners level take a chart that is compatible to your style. Something you could complete easily so that it does not bore you down. You can always graduate to bigger and complicated charts that imbibe many styles of stitches and a palette of colors.

Lastly choose a chart that appeals to you. Do not select one just because it looks great and different or out of the world. You have to be satisfied with the complete job. So take on a chart that you will have fun and enjoy doing.  ~ author Lata S. Batra.
