So you are set to start your new project of cross-stitch. But just
before you begin lets check out your kit. Make sure you have everything
you need for your venture instead of searching for items at the last
minute. At the onset the cross stitch kit depends on the chart you have selected. If it is a difficult design or a simple one accordingly the kit will differ. Mostly all stitching kits have a chart and instructions provided, needles and the fabric. Some kits also provide you with sorted threads mounted on an organizer. If not then start by sorting your threads in the organizer. If there are few colors then this will not eat into much of your time. Needles; check if your cross-stitch kit has sent the right needles. Else you can always store size 24,26 and 28 tapestry needles. As they are blunt and don’t split the threads of the fabric. They are a common favorite. Next get your hoop or scroll frame. Hoops normally come in plastic, metal and wood. Plastic and wood are commonly used, as metal tends to rust and spoil the cloth or the material used. Also remember to remove the hoop from time to time so that it does not crease or damage the material permanently. Embroidery Scissors; keep one good pair in your kit. They should be sharp and have good points. Keep these needlework scissors only for snipping threads and do not use it for anything else like cutting paper etc. Tweezers are a good bet to remove a wrong stitch. Rather than a rounded tip they should have a good point. Magnifying glass is helpful for those with glasses or weakening eyesight. You get different types of magnifying glass, like those you can put around your neck or attach it to your lamp. ~ author Lata S. Batra.
