In India, hats embroidery business falls under
the small scale sector with few manufacturer exporters in major cities.
Hats are commonly embroidered using popular brand name logos & some are even
customized.
The hat embroidery or print size is normally 55 mm x 100 mm. If the same
design is embroidered in two sizes it is treated as two different designs.
Designs can also have size restrictions depending on shape. For all over
embroidery hats, crepe de chine is used whereas Silk Lyons velvet is used
for handmade flowers and applique embroidery.
Embroidery Hats for mid season wear are made from baronet satin as it makes
a good background because of its lusture. Foam front hats and hats made form
very thin fabrics do not embroider well. The most common fabric used for
embroidered hats are poplin, twill and wool. Poplin is considered to be the
best as it holds shape the best and shows off the embroidery well.
Embroidered hats also have a band and bow of narrow ribbon as finish.
Embroidered baseball caps are easier to make when the caps are having a high
profile rather than a low profile which has a low frontal area and a sloping
crown.
Capital letters in sans serif fonts are
commonly used. Choosing the type of hat to embroider for a function or party
will depend on the kind of end user and the budget. Embroidered hats are
also gaining in popularity with the marketing industry where an event or
occasion is embroidered on the hat and that can be customized to the
individual too.
