The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are considered as the most prestigious and reputed educational institutions in the country. IITs are of national importance. IIT-JEE entrance examination presents a perfect opportunity for aspirants seeking to make career in the fields of engineering, pharmacy, designing and architecture. However, in order to appear for the exam, students must fulfil certain eligibility norms. The candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized Central/State Board in science stream. The applicants who have passed 3 or 4-year Diploma program recognized by AICTE or any State Board of Technical Education are also eligible to appear in the IIT-JEE test. Appearing candidates must have obtained minimum 60% aggregate marks in their qualifying examinations whereas students belonging to SC/ST class need to have minimum percentile of 55%.
The applicants should be in the age bracket of 16-24 years as on the first day of October of the year of examination. Students are first required to get through the Screening Test of Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) before they can appear in the Main Examination.
IIT-JEE test is divided into two papers of three hours each. The questions are asked from the subjects of physics, chemistry and mathematics. The questions are of objective type. Appearing candidates need to be aware of provision of negative marking. The questions are available in both Hindi as well as English mediums. Candidates willing to get into B. Arch and B. Des are required to appear for a separate aptitude test conducted by individual institutes during the time of counselling.
Applicants need to work hard for IIT-JEE paper. It is one of the toughest entrance exams in India. Students must prepare thoroughly and smartly. If you put in proper efforts and sincerity, success will be yours.
