surgery procedure that removes excess fat, tighten muscles, and redrape the
skin of the face, resulting in a more youthful appearance. Face-lifts surgeries tightens up sagging skin around the jaw and beneath the chin & can soften the rift from your nose to the corners of your mouth, called the nasal labial groove, but it can't eliminate it. To perform a face-lift surgery, the plastic surgeon makes an incision in the hairline above eyebrow level. The cut runs down in front of the ears and then tucks under the earlobes back to the hairline on your neck. The surgeon removes the excess skin at the incision. Most plastic surgeons also tighten the underlying layer of muscle, believing it causes the face-lift's effect to last longer. On the underside of the chin, another small incision is made to allow the surgeon to remove fat beneath the chin and tighten sagging neck skin. Face lift Surgery is usually done under local anesthesia with sedation, and the patient usually returns home the same day. Most people need only a mild pain reliever. Swelling may appear, but has usually decreased by the time the stitches are removed a week after surgery. Cram adds that bruised-looking discoloration may take several weeks to clear up. Although the final effect varies among individuals, the average face-lift patient comes out looking about five years younger. He or she will continue aging at a normal rate. Smoking, too much sun, or illness can hasten the process of aging on the skin. |
