Way back in the 1860s men controlling cattle on horseback came to be called cowboys. After the American Civil War, a cowboy was required to drive cattle from Texas to the railroad cow-towns of Abilene, Dodge City, Wichita and Newton. This cattle business spread its wings to various other states such as Kansas, Wyoming, Montana, New Mexico, Colorado and Arizona. A Cowboy was identified by his peculiar way of dressing. They would wear chaps over their jeans in order to protect themselves from the wildly grown bushes. They wore shirts and jackets with tussles hanging. Their hats were wide rimmed and bent from both the sides and they wore bots, which have come to be branded as Cowboy Boots. Today, Cowboy boots are not worn by those in the profession, but also by other people. It has become a popular fashion accessory amongst men and women alike. In fact cowboys clothes are worn generally amongst the fashionable crowds, and this line of fashion is given the title of Cowboy Merchandise. It is marked by faded denim wear, tussles on the clothes, waste coats and shirts, with a cowboy hat. The boots were such a prime accessory that the Cowboys used to spend large sums of money to get the best and latest in cowboy boots fashion. If that was the case then, it is no different now. Since Cowboy Bots are branded as unisex, women are also seen wearing them. The peculiarity of Cowboy Boots is that they are high-heeled. They are made of leather and some of the classiest boots are painted or have tussles. World over the popularity of Cowboy Boots came about because of Hollywood movies base on the Wild West theme. The credit of the first
traditional Cowboy Boots goes to H.J. Justin, from Texas. However, yet
researchers feel that the beginnings of the Boot cannot be recorded, as
protective footwear has been the need amongst warriors since time
immemorial. In India, cowboy boots are only available at few selected
outlets of major footwear companies.
