At the very onset it is important to understand what a
tiara is. It is an ornament of historic importance as it was worn by the
kings, queens and their offspring. It is a type of crown that is in the
shape of a semi-circle. It was decorated with various precious and
semi-precious beads. One form of the tiara was shaped as a cylinder,
narrowing on top in the center. Another type of tiara is basically a
semi-circle piece of jewelry worn on the head. While the royal families primarily wore tiaras in the days gone by, today it is mainly worn by brides. More so it is one of the essential bridal accessories amongst Christians and Catholics. The main purpose of the tiara is to firmly hold the veil on the head. Tiaras can be adorned with beads, lace or cloth. One of the most popular variations is the pearl tiara. This could be a semi-crown as worn by winners of beauty pageants or the wedding tiara. Pearls are shiny white beads that are derived from oysters. They are found abundantly in one of the prime southern cities of India, Hyderabad. A pearl tiara can help to make a marriage day a little bit special, and it makes an amazing statement ! For some, wearing a pearl tiara limits the colors one can wear. Usually white or off-white shades go with this tiara, and so brides wedded in churches wear it.
