retro hats |
| Well, it might be a surprising thing for
most people to accept, but the truth of the matter is that hats are
complicated things. For the people who are keen users of hats in India,
they will relate to the fact that these hats keep their wearers warm in
the winter and cool in the summer, and sometimes these hats function
strictly as fashion accessories. And inspite of being so versatile and
functional, hats come with etiquette so complex that sometimes people
actually have to consult guides just to wear them. After all, it has been noticed that no other article of clothing needs to follow as many rules as to when it must be donned, tipped or shed depending on the time of day, the type of event attended, or whether the National Anthem is being played. And what is more confusing is that sometimes hats are removed in elevators, sometimes they aren't. In the past, almost everyone was familiar with these rules, but it has been long since that hats have fallen out of fashion, in fact it has been about 40 years now since hats were in fashion. Therefore entire generations have come of age with little understanding of proper protocol of hat wearing habits. The number of hat wearers has become very few today. In fact in a country like India, there are hardly any left, because somehow the Indian culture does not seem to be very conducive to those who want to wear hats. Therefore over a period of time hats have simply become non-existent in the Indian wardrobes of most people. The rules that are followed today have become very casual as a consequence of the declining popularity of hats, not only in India, but also across the globe. In fact this fact is sometimes appalling to the older people who are still loyal to the traditional customs and are still spotted sporting retro hats. However, it has been noticed that the retro hats have been making a comeback in certain social occasions. More and more younger people are becoming interested in sporting this vintage accessory in social events such as theaters or concerts. In fact it is only about time that these retro hats made a comeback on the fashion scene, just like all the other retro fashions such as bell-bottoms and glitter in the recent times. The retro hats could not stay far behind under these cyclical fashion trends. data(c)Indian child. all rights reserved. |
