rhinestone tiara

What is a tiara? A tiara is a type of crown. Historically tiara implies the high crown that was mainly shaped of a cylinder tapering at its top. The frame of the tiara was usually made from precious metals covered with either velvet or leather. This was then adorned with gemstones. In some cultures the shape of the tiara was different. For some it resembled a halo made of various materials. Basically, the tiara has always been a symbol of royalty.

The tiara continues to be worn even today. Today, it is worn as a semi-circular band with a metal frame. This frame is either carved from the precious metals such as gold, silver or platinum; or then from other sturdy metals, depending on the budget of the individual. The metal is adorned with gemstones or precious stones.

Rhinestone is a popular semi-precious stone, more so used in the west. It looks amazing when set in silver, whether it be a necklace, pair of earrings, pendant, bracelet or tiara. In fact a bride could opt for an entire rhinestone set, including a rhinestone tiara.

A Rhinestone tiara is usually worn by brides or the winner of a beauty pageant. This type of tiara is made especially to match the garment of the wearer, as it is a stone that is not of a neutral color. Rhinestone tiaras are  usually cheaper than those made from precious stones such as rubies, sapphires, emaralds, etc.
