Your special day is just around the corner and you have
completed all your purchases. Alas, you forgot one important object,
which is the Tiara. Though essentially Christian brides all over the
world wear this accessory, brides of all other religions and cultural
background can also wear a bridal tiara. It is a headgear with universal
appeal. In fact the wedding tiara makes things more comfortable for the
bride who is required to keep her head covered through the wedding
ceremony. To elaborate further, first you must understand what exactly
is a tiara. As explained in the dictionary, a tiara is an ornamental,
crown-like semicircle worn on the head by women on formal occasions.
This maybe a simple band or then adorned with precious and semi-precious
stones. Now to explain its use as far as brides are concerned; first lets look at the Catholic bride. They are made to wear a beautiful flowing gown that is complete with a veil that covers their face. This veil is mainly made from lace and is lifted as and when the Priest conducting the wedding ceremony states to do so. The wedding tiara is like a clip that holds the veil on the head through the entire ceremony. Since it resembles a crown it adds elegance to the brides entire garb. Sometimes, Indian brides also wear wedding tiaras in the reception. The fact is that the Indian bride is to keep her head covered through the wedding ceremony, as is demanded by the Hindu scriptures. One of the major problems she faces is the scarf covering her head is usually made from a rich and yet flimsy material that keeps slipping off. The tiara, would clamp the scarf, known as duppatta onto her head, making her more comfortable. No doubt a tiara designed specially for a wedding has a spectacular & enchanting appeal of its own. ~ author Karishma Bajaj.
