Like cycling, skateboarding also calls for learning through trial and error. It is normal for skateboard learners to fall and hurt themselves. While expert level skateboarding calls for acrobatic skills, simple skateboarding is about riding on the skateboard and gliding down the road, knowing how to accelerate and slow down, gaining control and stopping as and when required. Once a learner has crossed this stage of basic learning, the exciting part comes in which is being able to indulge in skateboarding tips.

In the initial days the pioneers of skateboarding had actually put in a lot of aches and pains in bringing about the tricks. Having mastered the skills they were able to train others interested, imparting tips and tricks with safety measures. While a large number of skateboarding tricks have remained the same since the time they have come into being, there are yet many variations and modifications that keep coming up.
