hair extensions

There is a variety of hair extension available at beauty salons. The most popular application methods are either individual strands or wefts. In India, both these methods are being used. In fact in recent times hair extensions has become a common trend, especially after a lot of popular TV and film actresses have undergone this treatment.

Being a relatively new treatment, it is expensive to undergo. But then for those with a passion for long hair, the money hardly matters. While there are certain methods that can damage your hair, there are other methods that will give you long strands of beautiful hair without having an effect on your existing tresses. In the individual strands method, the hair specialist takes on an average 30 to 40 strands of extension hair and then attaches them to your existing hair. The methods used for attaching could be weaving, gluing, clamping using metal rods or heat fusing. Except for the clamping process all others require that your hair be coated with a certain chemical. In the case of wefts a lager number of strands are attached together. Whether the strands used are natural or synthetic, this process is not permanent. One has to go for extensions almost every three months, as the strands have a life after which they begin to look artificial.

You must keep in mind that the hair extensions do need care so that it has a longer life. There are a few general guidelines that you need to keep in mind.. You must use a soft bristled brush and tie your hair when sleeping. Do not color the extensions at home.

Actually, hair extensions seem to be a relatively newer process in the west as compared to in India. In fact Indian classical dancers have always used hair attachments when performing on stage. The difference is that the attachment is only for that function, where as extensions is for a few months. Irrespective, long hair does look beautiful, whether Indian or not.  ~ author Karishma Bajaj
