home remedy for dry hair

The average Indian kitchen contains more than one product which can be used as a home remedy for dry hair. Such remedies are inexpensive and often more effective than many cosmetics. What dry hair essentially needs is conditioning. Curd is a good conditioner and are easily available in any Indian market. Almost all Indian households prepare curd at home, it is rarely scarce and anything but expensive.

Aloe Vera, although not a product found literally at home but a little outside in ones garden is a good remedy for dry hair. It is obtained from the leaves of the Aloe Vera plant. Break the leaf and squeeze out the liquid inside, apply this liquid to your scalp, keep for about an hour, wash it off and watch the dryness disappear slowly but surely.

Whatever the conditioner you use, it is of great importance that it should enter the pores of your scalp. The hot towel technique of conditioning your hair proves to be of great utility in achieving this.

The hot towel technique is clearly described by the title attributed to it. However, to elaborate a little, this is what is to be done – after shampooing your hair, towel dry it and apply conditioner ( to the hair and not the scalp), then, dip a towel in hot water and wrap it around the hair. Allow your hair to stay wrapped in this hot towel for ten to fifteen minutes - this opens pores and allows the conditioner to enter – then unwrap and rinse your hair.

Some of the above methods begin to show positive effect almost instantly while the results of others might take longer to surface but are nevertheless positive. ~ author Mansi Ghuwalewala.
