A health insurance policy is a contract between an insurer and an individual or a group, in which the insurer agrees to provide specified health insurance at an agreed-upon price the premium. Depending on the policy, the premium may be payable either in a lump sum or in installments. Health insurance usually provides either direct payment or reimbursements for expenses associated with illnesses and injuries. However, prior to selecting an insurance it is ideal to compare health insurance policies that are available.

These days, most companies give the benefit of health insurance to the employees. The Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) offers The Asha Deep Plan which provides cover for cancer, paralytic stroke, renal failure and coronary artery disease. Jeevan Asha is the other healthcare product offered by LIC.

ICICI Lombard is a private company offering various kinds of insurances like 10K Tax saver health insurance that offers health insurance for a fixed premium of Rs. 10,000/-. It has Family float plan that offers health insurance of all the family members under one policy. The amount of policy can be used combined as well as individually by a member. It offers cover for up to 2years with no change in the premium.  There are overseas and student overseas travel health insurance policies that cover all the possible expenses of emergencies that may occur while the insured is traveling abroad. These policies offer cashless hospitalization in India at over 1100 hospitals and globally as well.

The Bajaj Allianz insurance company offers a comprehensive range of health insurance policies. Health guard covers the pre and post hospitalization expenses and has coverage of up to five lakhs. Hospital cash policy offers coverage of all the hospitalization charges as well as exemption from income tax. Critical illness offers protection against the 10 major life threatening illness like Cancer, Heart Attack, Paralysis, Kidney failure, Stroke, etc. In transplant surgery donor expense are covered. Sum assured apt 50 lacs per insured. The Personal guard policy covers against accidental death and comes with several additional benefits like hospital confinement allowance, children's education bonus.
