healthy snacks
| Snacking has in
fact become a way of life for both adults and children in most parts of
India. A recent study that was conducted reported that over 95% of the
women and children in the country have at least one snack in a day. Most
of the commonly consumed snack foods are high in fat, sugar and sodium.
If these foods are used for snacks frequently, they can easily affect
our health. That is the reason that choosing healthy snacks can be good
for us.
It is the children especially who will benefit from healthy snacks. They often cannot eat enough at the three regular meals in the day to satisfy their hunger and provide all of the nutrients they need. Therefore the healthy snacks can provide the additional foods that they need. Most people think that snacking means crunching chips, munching marshmallows, or chowing down on cookies. That is the reason that most people think snacking is bad because they think of junk food when they think of snacks. However, not always does junk food have to be your snack. Healthy snacks are packed with nutrients that your body needs to grow strong and stay well. For example, an orange will give you quick energy now and vitamin C for later. On the other hand, a pile of potato chips
contains lots of fat, something that most kids don't need a lot of. This
of course does not mean that you can never sink your teeth into a sweet
or salty snack that you love. It's OK to eat junk food in moderation.
Just remember that most of your snacks shouldn't be junk food.
