Low Fat Recipes

 

Exercising should always be combined with a proper healthy diet to lose weight. It is important to restrict the amount of fat intake in the body and hence consuming fast foods is definitely not a healthy idea. One needs to include low fat foods in ones diet. It is a myth that low fat food tastes dull. In fact some of the low fat recipes that we will share here are lip smacking! We all know that if you are trying to fight your fat, then you should increase the intake of salads, vegetables and fruits in your diet. However, it is not possible to eat salads and soups all the time. You can try some of these low fat recipes that are not just healthy but also tasty as well!

Nutritious chaat (bhel):

You will need:

1 cup puffed rice (kurmura)
Half cup boiled sweet corn
¼ cup finely chopped capsicum
¼ cup finely chopped tomatoes
¼ cup finely chopped cucumber
¼ cup finely chopped paneer
2 tbsp finely chopped boiled mashed rajma
¼ cup finely chopped coriander leaves
¼ pomegranate seeds (optional)
¼ cup chopped onions
A handful of peanuts
3 - 4 baked puris
1 teaspoon finely chopped green chillies
½ teaspoon grated ginger
½ teaspoon black salt
½ teaspoon chaat masala
2-3 drops of lemon juice
Salt to taste

Mix all the ingredients together and your nutritious bhel is all ready to be relished! Apart from this bhel, seamed idli is also a perfect diet food that is low in fat. However, keep the consumption of the coconut chutney to the minimum.

Tikkis and kababs are something that most people relish. Even those on a diet find it difficult to control themselves. You can however, try making soya tikkis at home. These tikkis are not just low fat but contains ingredients like soya and spinach which supply the body with essential proteins and help body maintain blood cholesterol levels. Serve these tikkis hot with coriander chutney!

Ingredients needed
¼ cup coarsely grinded soya granules
1 cup blanched and chopped spinach
¼ cup chopped coriander
1 teaspoon ginger-green chilli paste
½ teaspoon chopped garlic
2 tablespoons Bengal gram flour (besan)
Salt to taste
1 teaspoon oil for cooking

Like we make regular potato tikkis, mix soya granules, spinach coriander, ginger-green chilli paste, salt and bind it with besan. Make round tikkis and keep them aside. Now heat the oil in a frying pan and on a low flame, roast the tikkis till they are brownish. Serve them with coriander chutney!

If you have a sweet tooth, you may not sacrifice your halwa and kheer. You can prepare these sweet dishes at home using low fat milk and sugar substitutes. What is important is to eat everything in moderation. Eating right can go a long way in maintaining your health and staying fit.
