The best mode of learning is through experiencing. This is an age-old adage that has been passed down from generation to generation. However, when using this adage is more so to adults learning all that life brings forth. However, experiencing should also be a part of a child’s learning. For instance, how can a child differ between what is sweet, salty and bitter unless the child is made to taste these flavors? Or, how is a child to distinguish between colors unless he has been exposed to the varied hues?

Apart from practical exposure, repetition forms another important aspect of learning as far as young children or toddlers are concerned. Take for example, the old school method of teaching a child ‘A’ is for ‘Apple’ is to hang a picture of an apple with a huge ‘A’ drawn on the chart. But what is more effective is making the child draw an apple, or color an apple with the letter ‘A’ drawn in bold on the side.

Worksheets form a permanent mode of learning when teach young ones the basics, that actually form the foundations of arithmetic, reading and writing. Like when teaching children counting, it helps to the maximum to have the child draw the requisite number of objects or else color the required amount.

As is popularly believed, ‘Practice makes man perfect’ making a child practice through worksheets would help build stronger foundations towards better education. Learning is experiencing and doing.
