Known for its ease in wearing and comfortablilty, many women done the outfit with charm to retain the distinct Indianness. For occasions or regular wear, the Indian salwar kameez comes in a plethora of options. There are ethnic styles and also fusion ones.. Though the sari is the ultimate appeal, one can include salwar kameezs in the wardrobe for almost all occasions.

The length and hemlines of the kameez changes its moods frequently. There is the long and short about kurtas. Kurtis are generally thigh length and shorter the better. A stole, long Capri with kurti, is a perfect way to blend the fusion work.

Bandhni prints or the south Indian cotton will always hold a charm. One could employ the gota work or gold lace ideas in the trims.

The recent styles in western cuts like the empire cut and princess cut is adapted in the Indian salwar kameez. Yoke style with single border is being used in broader forms. Sleeveless tops or full sleeves is a personal choice. There are tie backs and criss cross patterns in the mid back strings. One could go for conservative styles that are seen in the Lucknowi kurtas. The hirkali sari of Maharashtra or the Paithani print is again seen in salwar kameez styles.

It hides the fat as it is a flowing dress usually, therefore all women irrespective of them being thin or fat wear the salwar khameez. The Indian salwaar kameez consists of 3 elements in it's creation namely the kurta, salwaar and a dupatta.
