  There is always a constant demand for babysitters. With increasing life style requirements and routine office jobs, along with day care centers the need for a baby sitter is growing. Teenagers are mature individuals and many appreciate the feeling to fend one selves. Charges are hourly basis and enjoyable. All you need to love kids and project loads of patience. Crisis situations are radical and hence don’t worry.
 
Collect information on the kids temperaments, allergies, food habits and if the kid is toilet trained. Learn to change nappies and clothing. Kids basically want a lot of entertainment and a teenager is well updated with leisure kits. Children get bored easily and will seek your attention. They need constant innovation. Eye contact and touch is also essential.

Make sure to seek the parents contact numbers and area of visit, in case of emergency. Pre-protect by keeping sharp things and hazardous items out of reach. Remember to check food items for their temperature before feeding the babies.  Do not experiment with food or beverages.

In case the child is asleep, do not get slack or fall into slumber yourself. Remember this is your duty to mind the child. Follow instructions given by their parents/ward. Two year olds and above can communicate and keep them busy with rhymes, interactive videos and indoor games.Appreciation works on them and they will like you. Babysitting jobs are temporary assignments and not routine. Hence there is enough time for you to enjoy too. Beginners may feel a little awkward but once you understand the job it is easy. Though a casual atmosphere of home, one needs to execute professionalism.


Do not probe the children or engage in very personal questions. Never intimidate or reprimand the child. You are a care giver and they need you emotionally to fill in the absence of their parents. Teach the kids a little on hygiene and independence. Tantrum throwers are attention seekers. Don’t give to their off-the-orbit demands as they will use it every time.
