  The job of the teacher brings lot of respectability. It’s just not a job about giving knowledge but inculcating values too. Home tutor jobs are  perfect for part time workers. The pay is adequate and allows you the flexibility to alternate with other interests or your own study routines. This is a job that requires maturity, tremendous patience and constant update of knowledge.

Home tutors are of two types, one can go to the students place to coach or conduct tuitions at your own residence. The former is more remunerative. The first step is to decide the time and subjects of your expertise. The next is advertise by word of mouth or distribute flyers in your area. The key mantra is to maintain professionalism. Homework is equally necessary for a tutor as it is for a student.  Update the areas and chart a weekly time table. Fix regular timings and conduct weekly tests. Group children age-wise or where not possible keep a distance between them. Tiny tots get easily distracted, hence newer methods and innovation to send the message is vital.

Make the atmosphere formal as loud environment leads to shifting focus. Make interesting card paper drawings and do teach them a little out of the portion. Give 5 minute break and shift to orals, if the writing is not holding the interest of the child. Break time can be personality development time and talks on current affairs or the discussing the science of evaporation.

Understand children need time and lot of repetitions. Don’t give up if your student does not get it even at the umpteenth time. Communicate with his/her parents on the weak areas and tailor a few tests to prepare them for the finals.  Make sure to praise the child and also do not reprimand them harshly. Do not create a situation of conflict as a child develops a mental block and will not open up with you. Guide like an expert, set rules like a teacher and be a friend always.
