One of the greatest desires of any kitchen owner is to have large windows so that they can let in the morning and evening sun. However, you might notice that in some of the cramped Indian cities such as Mumbai, it is very rare that there is a beam of sun penetrating your window. With the growing population in India, spacious homes are becoming more a luxury. The skyscrapers are only making it all the more difficult to have access to direct sunlight. And in the midst of such closely located buildings in most of the metropolitan cities in India, there is a chance that you have neighbors snooping in on you. And it is precisely in these circumstances that having the perfect kitchen curtains is essential for any decorating scheme in an Indian home.

In case you have chosen to have a modern kitchen design, then it wouldn’t make much sense to have rough country style curtains. Therefore make sure that you choose sleek and soft curtains that will accompany any kind of modern design. Choosing the right color for the curtains may seem like an easy task, but not always. What you need to remember is that during the day, the sun will shine through the curtains creating a soft hue in your kitchen. So, though the green curtains may look nice on certain days, having your kitchen bathed in soft green light all the days could be kind of gross, especially in a tropical country like India.

So, when you choose the color for the curtains, make sure that you do a window test on a sunny day to make sure that it gives you the look you want.With curtains, there are no rights or wrongs when it comes to shape. Bigger is not always better and subtlety can be ruinous to your kitchen design. Therefore the shape chosen by you must be in tandem with the size of your windows. If they are large, be sure to use a subtle kitchen curtain, or else the window will dominate your design, detracting from the rest of your hard work.
