kitchen exhaust hoods

While designing kitchens, especially in this over-populated and over-polluted country like India, it is very important to try and incorporate kitchen exhaust hoods into the entire design. This is important not just from a visual point of view, but also from a functional point of view. Most of the major metropolitan cities in India are becoming increasingly cramped and that is the reason that the houses are only getting smaller. This means that the kitchen becomes all the smaller, which leads to more suffocation. Therefore exhaust hoods provide a great relief for the cramped kitchens in India, especially in crowded cities like Mumbai.

There are basically two types of exhaust hoods that are available in India. They are the wall-attached units for kitchens where the oven is along the wall and hoods for kitchen islands, where the oven is within the room It is not just the simple size of the hood, but also its design that plays a role in bringing about a change in the impression of your kitchen design. In most of the traditional Indian kitchens, the exhaust hoods have always been seen more as an additional add-on than the center of the kitchen.

Therefore depending on the kitchen design, the exhaust hoods can be impressive centerpieces of your kitchen. But, cleaning the kitchen exhaust hoods is a very time-consuming and yet a very important job.

There are two primary methods of cleaning kitchen exhaust hoods.
-Scraping.
-Pressure washing or steam cleaning.
The primary method that is used for cleaning is scraping. This is the more economical methods of the two and is extremely effective when done thoroughly. The available alternative to scraping is pressure washing or steam cleaning. This is a more costly and time-consuming technique, since it requires considerable prep work to control wastewater and more expensive equipment is involved.

It is advisable to clean the kitchen exhaust hoods every 3 months. This duration can vary however. The kitchen exhaust systems that need cleaning most often are those over wood-burning or charcoal-burning stoves. These should be cleaned every month at least, and in some cases as often as every 2 weeks.
