kitchen sinks

If you are thinking of renewing or remodeling your kitchen, there are dozens of decisions that need to be made. And amongst all of these, one of the most important decision is that about the type of kitchen sink that you will use. However, in most of the Indian homes, this critical decision is often ignored and not given all that much thought to.

The kitchen sinks come in a wide variety of sizes; shapes, materials and price ranges, and most are widely available in all the cities in India. The reason that the decision about the kitchen sink is so important is because it is something that you'll be living with in your kitchen for a long time so a little thought to it is worth the effort.

The standard type for most Indian homes is the double-bowl kitchen sink, which is 33-by-22 inches in size. There are a number of options available in this type. However, in cities like Mumbai, where the houses, and especially the kitchens are so cramped and small, the single bowl sinks are more suitable. It can be as little as 12 inches wide and is ideal for small spaces.

However, in other larger and spacious cities of India, larger triple bowl sinks add convenience since there is enough room for them. They are more than 48 inches wide. The type of material that you select for the kitchen sinks is dependant on the look of the kitchen, your own maintenance preferences and your budget.

Stainless steel is the most common sink material. It is durable and very easy to clean. And most of the Indian homes usually install a stainless steel sink. There's a wide range of prices available, but sinks at the lower end are thinner gauge metal, which means they're noisy and easy to dent.

If you choose to install a new kitchen sink, then the first step is to properly site the opening. Most sink manufacturers provide a template. Position the template so it is centered on the sink cabinet and is at least 1 1/2 inches back from the countertop’s front edge.
