Most of the Indian families are today increasingly becoming nuclear families where both the spouses are usually working and therefore there is an acute need for the Indian families to adapt themselves to an efficient working system. Creating an efficient house management system ensures that the work gets done in lesser time. This is especially important in metropolitan cities of India such as Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai. This is because in these cities the pace of life is much faster and requires much more efficient maneuvering of the household management activities.

Buying foods and kitchen supplies in large quantities will save the household money and time. However in order to plan efficiently, there are a few basic things that you need to know in order to keep these foods fresh. Some of the foods that are suitable for buying in large quantities are Flour, Sugar, Corn Meal, Cereal, Pasta, Rice, and Beans.  The basic requirement is that anything that is dry can be stored for six months to a year. And of course the most important thing is to buy the right kind of containers to store these kitchen supplies. There are many kinds and sizes of containers available in the market such as plastic large jars that are see through.

The plastic jars to stock the kitchen supplies are very inexpensive and can be bought at any department store. Glass jars are ideal for storing dry foods. Buy some smaller plastic containers to put small amounts of food in such as crackers and chips, etc.
Buying kitchen supplies in large quantities also saves you time because when you make a trip to the grocery store you won't have to be buying so much food and there won't be so many heavy bags of food to carry in and put away.

Apart from storing the kitchen supplies, in order to be able to efficiently cook in your kitchen you will certainly need some basic cooking equipment essentials such as an oven, a stove, refrigerator and also a microwave if affordable.

You will also need utensils for measuring and the most important is a liquid measuring cup. This is usually made of clear glass or plastic, even stainless steel and have lines on the outside so you can measure an entire cup or portions of a cup. These also come in pint and quart sizes and make it easier to measure larger quantities of liquids.
