How to write a letter of apology


Okay, you did something wrong and have made up your mind to apologize. Well, when you can’t speak it, it is best to write it. So here goes some great advice on how to write a letter of apology.


Put your name, address and date on the right hand corner.

Add the subject. It may feel add to put your subject as ‘apology for xyz’, but it cools down the reader as soon as they view the subject. It does.

Now start with due respect to the person you have caused harm, loss or hurt.

Write that you are sorry for what you did and didn’t have to be that way.

Ask for forgiveness.

Promise that you would not repeat your mistake. (Keep the promise)

Ask for another chance and a wish to start over a new leaf.

Tell what kind of relationship you share with the person and how you committed under the circumstances of what happened.

Write that you are truly hoping that you will be forgiven and would like to move on. But leave it over the person to decide, don’t push too hard.
