Lord Prayer :
Lord help me
is going to happen
to me today
that You and I
together can’t handle.
I have no other helper than You, no other father,
no other redeemer,
I pray to You.
My present misery is too great;
Despair grips me, and I am at my wits’ end.
I am sunk in the depths, and I cannot pull myself up or out.
If it is Your will, help me out of this misery.
Let me know that You are stronger than all misery and all enemies.
Oh Lord, if I come through this, please let the experience contribute to my and my brothers’ blessing.
You will not forsake me; this I know.
“12 Step Prayer Book
A Short Prayer…
So far today, I’ve done all right. I haven’t gossiped, haven’t lost my temper, haven’t been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish, or over indulgent. I’m very thankful for that.
But, in a few minutes, God, I’m going to get out of bed. And from then on, I’m probably going to need a lot more help.
How can you forget that you’re blessed?
I’ve given you a heart to love with.
I’ve given you two lips to smile with.
I’ve given you two hands and everything you’ll need to make your dreams come true.
I’ve given you happy memories to warm your heart.
I’ve given you music to raise your spirit.
I’ve given you red roses to inspire romance, and soft white daisies so that you could escape to pleasant dreams.
I’ve given you song of hummingbirds so that you can remember the beauty of life all around you.
I’ve given you beaches brooks, golden sand, and blue skies to ease your worries.
I’ve given you a sky full of stars and moonlight, so that you would strive to reach far come the dawn.
I’ve given you long and lazy summer days to revive your spirit and an inner peace that only comes with the first snowfall.
I’ve given you all you’ll ever need.
A Letter From God
How are you? I just had to send you a note to tell you how much I care about you.
I saw you yesterday as you were talking with your friends. I waited all day hoping you would want to talk to me, too. I gave you a sunset to close your day and a cool breeze to rest you — and I waited. You never came. It hurt me, but I will love you because I am your friend.
I saw you sleeping last night and longed to touch your brow, so I spilled moonlight upon your face. Again I waited, wanting to rush down so we could talk. I have so many gifts for you! You awoke and rushed off to work. My tears were the rain.
If you would only listen to me! I love you!
I whisper it in the leaves on the trees and breathe it in colors of flowers, shout it to you in mountain streams, give the birds love songs to sing. My love for you is deeper than the ocean, and bigger than the biggest need in your heart!
Ask me! Talk to me! Please don’t forget me. I have so much to share with you!
I won’t hassle you any further. It is your decision. I have chosen you and I will wait.
I love you. Your Friend,
INTERVIEW WITH GOD
I dreamed I had an interview with God.
“Come in,” God said. “So, you would like to interview Me?”
“If you have the time,” I said. God smiled and said:
“My time is eternity and is enough to do everything; what questions do you have in mind to ask me?”
“What surprises you most about mankind?”
“That they get bored of being children, are in a rush to grow up, and then long to be children again.
That they lose their health to make money and then lose their money to restore their health.
That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present, such that they live neither for the present nor the future.
That they live as if they will never die, and they die as if they had never lived…”
God’s hands took mine and we were silent for while and then I asked…
“As a parent, what are some of life’s lessons you want your children to learn?”
God replied with a smile:
“To learn that they cannot make anyone love them.
What they can do is to let themselves be loved.”
To learn that what is most valuable is not what they have in their lives, but who they have in their lives.
To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others. All will be judged individually on their own merits, not as a group on a comparison basis!
To learn that a rich person is not the one who has the most, but is one who needs the least.
To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in persons we love, and that it takes many years to heal them.
To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness.
To learn that there are persons that love them dearly, but simply do not know how to express or show their feelings.
To learn that money can buy everything but happiness.
To learn that two people can look at the same thing and see it totally different.
To learn that a true friend is someone who knows everything about them…and likes them anyway.
To learn that it is not always enough that they be forgiven by others, but that they have to forgive themselves.”
I sat there for awhile enjoying the moment. I thanked Him for his time and for all that He has done for me and my family, and He replied,
“Anytime. I’m here 24 hours a day. All you have to do is ask for me, and I’ll answer.”
