Netiquette- Why do we all  behave so strange on the net :-( ?

Most people do the strangest & outrageous things when they get behind a keyboard.

Things they would ordinarily never do face to face! Somehow, maybe it's the fact that they think they're anonymous,

or that the internet brings out personality disorders :-).

We really don't know :- /

But please don't fall into the web trap of saying and doing things online that you know shouldn't be said or done.

We have put together a list of smileys (shortcuts to words) as well as some basic rules of netiquette (proper conduct on the net and online services).

Netiquette

Remember that people from many countries will be sharing ideas, and the first rule of the game is RESPECT & Being Mannered.

Never use all capital letters, it's considered shouting & impolite..YEAH !

"Spamming" is posting something in many places at the same time. They are all no-no's. Remember that just because you're hiding out in your room behind a big computer monitor, you aren't exempt from correct and thoughtful communication. Spamming is sending ( if u're are the culprit) or receiving unsolicited e mails. In simple words, the disgusting junk e mails which fill our mail boxes is called a spam !! :-(

"Flaming" is inciting or provoking an argument. Spamming also leads to flame wars !

Now... smileys...

Since people cannot communicate teasing, humor  sarcasm, or other emotions online (after all, typing is boring) netiquette has developed forced emotion indicators... They are called "smileys." We've posted some of the more popular smileys below.

  • ;-) or ;_>...a wink
  • :-)........smiley face
  • :->.......big smiley face
  • :-(........frown
  • <g>.....grin ( often hehehe ! )
  • <G>.....big grin
  • :- < ....very sad
  • 0:-) ...angel smile
  • :-D ....Laughing
  • >:-(  ...very angry
  • :- \  ....undecided
  • :-O  ...shouting
  • LOL...laughing out loud
  • FOFLOL...falling on the floor laughing
  • BTW...by the way
  • OTOH...on the other hand
  • PMJI...pardon me for jumping in
  • IMHO...in my humble opinion

So, we hope you've got some idea about the netiquette :-) ?
