outsourcing white collar jobs

| White-collar jobs outsourcing :
Outsourcing has been witnessed in some form or the other for many years.
Foreign brands of shoes, clothes and electronic equipment have always
had local manufacturing units. However, these were mostly factory jobs,
or blue-collar jobs. Economic forces have shifted millions of factory
jobs to offshore locations, especially over the last 30 years. White-collar jobs were thought to be secure in western countries. But that is not the case now, thanks to a well-educated, underemployed, low-cost work force in Asian countries. The outsourcing jobs that are moving now include those of financial analysts, architectural drafters, telemarketers, accountants, claims adjusters, home loan processors and others at higher levels. These are often high-paid, highly sought-after jobs, for which you need advanced degrees and excellent skill-sets. Companies now choose to ship these white collar jobs across oceans, instead of paying six-figure salaries to trained workers in America. According to research, in the next 15 years, American employers will ship out or outsource 3.3 million white-collar jobs. Data 2004. Author Annie Zaidi. |
