Babies Playing With You
- Spending quality time
with your baby is a cornerstone of parenting. One way to do this is
through play.
- Being with people,
especially parents, is the most important play experience babies have. Let
them play freely as this gives them a chance to discover many joys in
life. Make sure they are safe.
- Most parents want their
children to grow up with positive values, with attitudes and beliefs which
will help make the world a better place. Play is how babies learn these
things.
- For the first few months
babies love looking at moving objects. These can be mobiles or toys hung
above the cot or, if the weather is good, the branches of a tree or
washing blowing on the line. Babies love watching you do things around the
house - and remember to talk to them.
- You don't have to buy
expensive toys. Babies love things like lids of saucepans, plastic cups
and spoons. They love lying on a rug on the grass and being taken for a
walk around the block.
- Babies like to make
things happen such as banging a spoon on the ground. Simple blocks are
good toys. They like toys which can be chewed but make sure these can be
washed easily and are big enough not to be swallowed.
- Babies like to play in
the bath. Sing to them, blow bubbles and give them things which float and
sink. NEVER leave them alone.
