Sole Parent Family Managing Money

  • One of the biggest concerns for single parent families is money. If the single family was formed because of a separation or divorce, the money that used to be spent on one family will now be shared by two. A single family which receives money from a pension or social security payment will have less money than before.
  • A single parent without a job may be eligible for some of these:
    • Sole Parent Pension
    • Loan Scheme
    • Family Payment
    • Pensioners Concession Card
    • Education Re-entry Payment
    • Austudy Supplement
    • Tax Rebate.
  • For more information you can contact the Lone Parent Family Support Service or the Department of Social Security. 'Help for Sole Parents' is also an excellent booklet given out by the Department of Social Security. It is also available at Parenting Information Centres .
