Parents Choosing Child Care
- To help you choose the
kind of child care which suits you and your child best, think about:
- when you need the care
- which days and what hours
- if you need full time
or part time care
- if you need child care
occasionally, during term time, out of school hours
- whether the care needs
to be near your home, or you travel to it
- what costs are
involved
- which type of services
feel right for you and your child.
- Deciding to use child
care can be difficult. You will have more confidence that you are doing
the right thing if you know about the legal provisions to safeguard
children and how to choose the right kind of care.
- All family day care and
centre based long day care centres for children under school age in WA
must be licensed by the Child Care Services Board. The Board sets and
maintains regulations and standards for child care services which cover
standards for the care of children, staffing and premises.
- Long day care centres
must register with the National Childcare Accreditation Council and
participate in the Quality Improvement and Accreditation System. This
helps centres to provide quality programs.
