Positive Ways To Help Overcome Depression
- It's natural to feel a
little depressed occasionally. Try one of the following activities to help
you relax:
- get in touch with a
supportive friend or relative
- go for a walk
- try to organise some
regular exercise activity every week such as going for a swim or a
relaxing bush walk or some other exercise activity you enjoy
- meditate or pray
- do some gardening
- dance - play your
favourite music with a good beat and dance to it
- do something new
- Seek counselling if you
feel you need it. There are many support services available, you can find
out more by contacting the Department for Community Development.
- It
is important to treat yourself with the same respect and care that you
show others. Make time for activities that you enjoy and make time to do
things for yourself. Doing something for yourself doesn't have to be
expensive or complicated - organise a simple activity around your home
such as reading, having a relaxing nap during the day, or visiting a
friend or neighbour. Everyone has their own way of enjoying themselves.
The important thing is to make time.
