Healthy Foods For Preschoolers
- Try some of the
following ideas:
- Have your child get
their own drink of milk or water.
- Provide finger foods
they can choose from like carrot sticks or slices of apple
- Involve them in simple
food preparation like spreading butter on bread, slicing a banana and
setting the table.
- Have your child ask
first before opening the fridge door.
- Encourage them to sit
while eating.
- Turn off the TV or
radio and talk about your day while eating.
- Present food in small,
yummy bits.
- Eat healthy foods
yourself.
- Try dried fruit,
yogurt or pieces of fresh fruit for dessert.
- Children should eat a
variety of healthy foods and establish a balanced eating pattern. A little
cake, biscuits, lollies or fizzy drink once a week is okay.
- A balanced diet is
essential for your child's growth.
- Take healthy food to day
care, preschool or outside for a picnic. You might try: sticks of cheese,
hard boiled eggs, simple sandwiches, cherry tomatoes, dried apricots stuck
together with cream cheese, sticks of celery filled with peanut paste.
