Praise A Preschooler
- Positive parenting can
help your child become self disciplined. You must notice and promote the
kind of behaviour you want.
- Do this by praising
children, smiling and telling them what you liked. But be careful, the way
you give praise can sometimes sound negative. For example, 'You're working
very well today' (sounds as though you usually expect your child to behave
badly).
- Children need to learn
how to behave because it is the right thing to do not because it gets them
attention.
- Praise works wonders.
- Catch your child being
good for example brushing teeth without being asked.
- Be firm but fair.
- Show you love and
appreciate them. Children need to feel loved for themselves, not just the
things they do well.
