Helping Primary Schoolers
- Most schools have many
ways to help children with learning difficulties.
- If you are not happy
with the way your child is coping speak to the teacher, principal, health
professional or doctor.
- Sometimes parents need
to arrange extra help. Some of the following people can help:
- a tutor to give the
child one to one help on some things
- a speech therapist if
the child is having trouble making sounds and understanding language
- an occupational
therapist if the child is having trouble with physical movement
- an eye specialist who
can give exercises to help the child control their eye movements or
focus
- an ear specialist if
the child is having trouble hearing
- a dietitian
- a
doctor or paediatrician.
